I’m not sure if I’m going to have computer access today tomorrow today, so I’m pre-publishing this for tomorrow. So in case I can’t get online until we get home, here are a couple more photos from Old Town.

While I have a few moments, here are a couple photos that I took today walking around Old Town…

30 Days of Thanks…I’m thankful for being able to spend quality time with dear friends.
Last night I went looking through all my digital photos looking for something that represented Albuquerque to me. I remember all those years of taking photos in Old Town and during Balloon Fiesta. Well, turns out all I have digitally are my going away party pictures, my moving truck pictures and a batch from the last roadtrip that my roomie and I took before I left. Notice a theme here?
This photo above is what’s left of the army post at Fort Union on the Santa Fe Trail. We headed out there because I’ve always wanted to see wheel ruts from the Calistoga wagons. So we drove the couple of hours to get there and started taking pictures of what we thought were the wheel ruts. Turns out they were wheel ruts alrighty…from a pickup truck (see below). Yeah, disappointing.

On our way back to the freeway, we stopped at the museum and asked them where the damn ruts were. Turns out, they’re right along side of both the road and the freeway. Um…but they look just like every other natural arroyo (as evidenced below). Which of course makes me wonder if it’s arroyo or ruts over on the Turquoise Trail into Madrid.
So while I may not have many digital photos of New Mexico in my arsenal, I do hope to get a couple good shots will visiting this weekend. That is if I can find the time between the margaritas, the green chile and the sopapillas!! Yum! New Mexico, here I come!
Turns out I had a second (non-gratitude) post in me after all. Let me just say, it’s awfully quiet in this house when the pupster is away. I dropped him off at doggie sleep-away camp about and hour ago and wow, so peaceful. Let me just say though, I was *this* close to sending him away without his dinner – this would have been tragic considering they only get once a day, AM feedings there. But at least I remembered to pack his blanket and a toy that he can beat himself up with. Word on the street is that he’ll have two doxies next door to flirt with.
The quiet is definitely appreciated, as it seems like I’ve got a migraine coming on. Which sucks because today was the ONLY day I was going to be able to visit with A and her hubby from Cityview. And now, between the migraine and the commute (and the packing that still isn’t completely done) I’m going to have to bail. Bummer…I even had wine to give them (paying it forward and all that).
Oh well, I guess the hubby and will just have to head out to Chicago again some time soonish.
Just because I don’t seem to have the ooph necessary to write another post for today AND my post for tomorrow while I’m stuck in the air, I’ll give you a small list of things I’m thankful for (in no particular order)…
* I’m thankful for my awesome hubby and the three weeks that I’ll have him all to myself (while he takes vacation days to work from home).
* I’m thankful for the boys who I will miss both this weekend and next while we travel. Pupster, I hope you enjoy your sleep-away camp and KitKat, I hope you don’t get too freaked out being home alone.
* I’m thankful that I’m able to leave tomorrow to go hang with my friends back in the Duke City!! Oh, and green chile!! Did I mention how excited I am to have green chile and sopapillas again??? Garcia’s I’ll see YOU tomorrow for dinner!
* I’m thankful that I no longer have certain people in my life. It’s amazing just how good it feels.
* And lastly, I’m thankful that I can pre-publish (bwahahah!)
Don’t forget to thank the nice folks that stop in and leave comments or they might never comment again (and reciprocate).
Don’t forget to visit other blogs and comment, comment, comment.
* I will catch up on just these very thing first moment I get (after I pack & run my errands, that is)
In the four Halloweens that we’ve lived here we’ve NEVER had Trick-or-Treaters. So this year, even though I had a coupon for free bag of anything, I decided to purchase nothing.
And yes, as one would only expect, the kids showed up – in costumes, no less! Luckily I had stopped by Trader Joe’s earlier in the day and picked up some 100-cal packs. Granted, I won’t be the favorite house on the street, but it’s better than nothing. At least the parents will have something to snack on!
I was so bad at the giving out thing that I totally forgot to comment on costumes! Man, see what comes from hiding from trick-or-treaters for the past ten years?
I guess next year I go back to buying a bag of candy and hope the Griffster doesn’t devour it like he did our first year here (it was an entire back of Reese’s mini-cups – tinfoil and all!)
