What’s Your Favorite Mascara?

I need your help.  I learned from a friend of mine that my lashes will hold their curl better with a “gel based” mascara.  Of course, this make up artist friend of mine suggested some high end product.  Now I don’t mind spending the money from time to time, especially if the product works great.  But…I only wear make up once or twice a week.  Which of course means, I never get my money’s worth out of a full tube.

So I’m hoping to find a good drugstore brand.  I know all the magazines rave about the pink miracle, Great Lash, but I just can’t get behind it.  The wand is too wimpy for my tastes.  So I thought I’d ask the mightly blogsophere.

Help a gal out – what’s your favorite mascara and why?

And now we return to trying to ditch this migraine.  You can seem to set a clock by my migraines and when I need a chiropractic adjustment.

Thanks Nai!  That’s actually what I was using last (until I was gifted some GWP-sized brands).

i’m a loreal girl!  in fact, i’m pretty sure that loreal still owns lancome or vis versa… so i ditched using lancome way back in the day-80’s that is!  my latest loreal-du jour is the telescope mascara… but so far they all have been fab.

Krista, I always heard that as well (though I think it was the other way around – Lancome/KMS owns L’Oreal).  I think for that reason, I’ve always tended to go L’Oreal as well.

I’m wondering about Rimmel and if anyone’s tried any of their stuff.  I keep thinking they’re geared towards the younger, more alternative crowd – Wet & Wild comes to mind, but I could be wrong.

I’ve been using Cover Girl’s Lash Blast Waterproof mascara for the last three months and am loving it.  Prior to that, I used Lancome Definicils and Dior’s Diorshow mascara.  Out of all of them I get the best value from Cover Girl.  You should give it a shot – you really can’t go wrong with a $7 tube.

I also like Maybelline’s XXL mascara.  It has two wands – one for volume and one for length, and also costs around $7.

I actually really like DiorShow mascara.  It’s $24, but a lot better than any drug store brand I’ve tried.  You can even get it on sephora.com where shipping is usually free for over $50 and you get free samples;)
