I Survived Voting and the Freebies
Or more importantly…I survived my free Starbucks coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts. Voting was a piece of cake. No parking, but no lines. They found me right away, checked me off and sent me (and my CA Props cheat sheet) on my way. I can’t stand those shakey voting booths, but it is a super easy process.
With my “I Voted” sticker I headed on over to one of the local Starbucks with the line wrapping around the store. Really, I think the last time I saw this place so crowded, they were hosting the area job fair. They were ready though…had hot cups of coffee ready to hand you as soon as they saw your sticker. I will say, it’s the first time I’ve tried their Pike’s Blend and it was much smoother than their other coffees, but still a tad bitter for my tastes.
From there, I headed down the parking lot to the Krispy Kreme. Their parking lot was insane, but there wasn’t much of a line. It was funny to see so many folks enjoying their patriotic donut with their Starbucks coffee (especially since they have a Coffee Bean at this location). But boy howdy, an original glazed donut with frosting and sprikles is just TOO much. If it wasn’t for the caffeine, I’m sure I’d be napping by now.
Did you know that in NYC and Seattle, they’re giving away free silver bullet vibrators or Maverick sleeves (for men) over at Babeland? And here in Beverly Hills, you can get half off of Botox. Now that’s another way to feel good after voting!

It’s better.
It’s getting better.
And it’s going to be alright.
Really alright.
I tend to not get sucked into the recession or negative news stories much. To me, I’m just exciting at what this seeming mess will no doubt bring about the most amazing worldwide changes in who knows how long. The World will have no choice but to work together to create some amazing opportunities and new ways of thinking from this mess and I for one, can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

Looking For Some of Your Favorite Things
I’m all a’twitter here. My husband has finally gotten around to creating our brand new sweepstakes page for my site. Originally, I had planned to give away one item a day for the entire month of November, in preparation for the holiday season. I actually had such a good response to my Haro pitch and the few other companies that I’ve reached out to on my own, that I’d like to make this even bigger still.
So this got me thinking how every so often I like to share some of my favorite things here on my blog (as seen here, here, and here). I enjoy this so much, I also have it run on my site’s blog from time to time. I think it’s a cool way to share cool gadgets and fun things.
In light of that, I’d like to ask you to share some of your favorite things (either the comments below, or write up your own post and leave me a link). Basically, I’m looking for cool, fun things that can be given as gifts. In particular:
- anything green or eco-friendly (for the home or the body)
- anything gadgety or techy for the guys (or those tech-inclined gals amongst us)
- foodstuffs
- kitchen gadgets
- must-read authors
- kid-friendly products
- make-up, skin or body care products
So what are some of your favorite things?

How Will You Celebrate National Coffee Day? How About Free Coffee Bean??
Did you know that Monday, September 29th is National Coffee Day? I don’t know about you, but I don’t need much of a push to celebrate this holiday. Well thanks to blogging about National Coffee Day last year*, I have some treats to help you celebrate…
Five lucky winners will receive $5 gift cards to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. The only catch, you have to be somewhere where you can actually spend your CBTL gift card…like in Southern California. If you fit that requirement, than just leave me a comment letting me know your favorite thing about coffee.
One for me, Five for you!
Using random.org, I’ll pick the winners Sunday night and drop those cards in the mail on Monday…National Coffee Day!
Enjoy!
* I’m telling ya, I’m totally digging on being a blogger and getting contacted with free things to giveaway and share with others.
This blogging gig rocks!
I’ll Cry At Darn Near Anything
No really. I’ll cry while reading a good book, watching a good movie (I Am Sam leaves me crying my eyes out), and well, embarrassingly enough, I’ll even tear up during some commercials (did you ever see those old Mastercard commercials where the dog, Badger gets lost on vacation? I rest my case).
I have to say though, one thing that will get me crying without even trying is this statue at the La Brea Tar Pits. No really, even just talking about it makes me start. Heck, looking for this picture makes me start tearing up. I mean look at that image…the mama is stuck in the tar pits and she’s crying out to the dad and the baby. The baby is freaking out. It’s just so sad, it kills me.
Last night, over dinner with the girls, I was talking about the statue and yes, you guessed it I started crying. Not just tearing, but crying. The ladies just sat there and stared while I laughed through my tears. Then again, once I got home to tell the hubs about the tears, I started tearing up again.
Of course, he finds it all amusing. I mean so amusing that he’ll go out of his way to drive me by this statue. Luckily, the Tar Pits stink, so I know well in advance what he’s up to and avert my eyes. To which he chuckles. Glad to know I can amuse him.
And here’s Badger finally on his way to his family. Tell me that doesn’t just break your heart…
So what makes you cry?
