Hmmm…Ben or Matt?

Who would you rather be fucking?

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lcmNaXmjvs&rel=1]

I think the funniest parts are Brad Pitt as the Fed Ex guy and Josh Grobin. If you have the time, be sure to check out all the back videos with Matt Damon and Kimmel that lead up to the I’m Fucking Matt Damon video. It really helps to put the whole thing in perspective. And being a Bourne fan, I think that clip has to be my favorite of all of them. The red carpet clip is also a hoot. Really, just watch them all.

Self-Love Day 2008 – Get Outta the Gutter!

It’s not that kind of self-love! Snackiepoo over at Snackie’s World has something entirely different in mind: “No more “how much do I love thees”… rather ask yourself the question, “how much do I love ME?” Even if you have someone on this special day, take the time to think about yourself, list your good qualities, have some positive perspective on who you are and treat yourself better than you ever have.”

vdaypourelle

HERE ARE THE RULES!!!

1.) Post one of them there banners on your blog and declare February 14th as the day you not only love your one and only, but the day that you love yourself!
2.) Post at least, one nice thing about yourself……then ask others to post one thing that they really like about you.

3.) Enjoy yourself and have an awesome day!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Here are three things that I like about myself…1) I’ve been told that I have enviable eyebrows (even if I seem to be a bit of a compulsive plucker), 2) I love to smile, especially at kids and pets, but I’m pretty friendly to strangers as well and 3) I will do almost anything for a friend – and if you’re a really good friend, I’m sure that almost line is quite blurry 😉

Well, since all but one of you only know me through this blog only, I can’t expect any deep thoughts here, but hey…anything you might like share about what you might like about me? What about yourself?  Share those likes!

Herbie Won Album of the Year!

This is absolutely awesome news!!  Of course, since the news has gotten out, his website has crashed every couple of minutes.  Of course, this meant we had to leave dinner in a rush to get home to fix it.

I guess you know what I’ll be doing for the next couple of days…approving new members on his site and approving new comments and friends on his myspace.  Should be a busy couple of days, but all worth it in the end.  I even volunteered to drive out wherever in the middle of God knows when to pick up our friend so she could enjoy her birthday and Herbie’s win.

I’ve Been a Very Busy Gal

That’s not exactly a surprise, I know.  Hell, I’ve been posting about my busyness for the past couple of weeks now.  Thing is, I’m thrilled.  Again, not a surprise, I know.

Today I met with yet another future blogger for lunch – though I think she’ll be more of an occasional topic, than an actual blogger (if that makes sense).  Much like Elizabeth Gilbert of Eat, Pray Love fame, she too wrote a book about her personal journey to find answers.  So I’m now the proud owner of a copy of her book and I’ve secured one to giveaway on the site to correspond with our future interview.

I also heard back from two other people interested in blogging for the site.  Whew, who knew this would all come together so easily.  I mean hell, when we originally set the blog up, we asked our own membership to write for us and that was like pulling teeth.  This is SO much easier – and much more fun!  I’ve also been in contact with yet another author to interview to discuss her current projec.  At this rate, I’ll be ready to reach out to mainstream authors in no time 😉

And speaking of books, I think I might have mentioned that I’m involved with Elle magazine to read three fiction books and review them for their May Reader’s edition.  I thought this would be fun.  First, I’m so glad that I started with the Jennifer Weiner.  Even though it had a slower start than I’d have preferred, it was good.  Really good.

Now, I’m reading Wit’s End by Karen Joy Fowler (of The Jane Austin Book Club fame) and I can’t get in to it for the life of me.   I’m half way through and I’m just hoping and praying that it gets better.  If this was something I was reading on my own, I’d have given up already.  It’s so sad, but the best parts to me, are the ones that discuss how the movie, Lost Boys was filmed in the same town (Santa Cruz) or the brief mentions of the online and blog communities.  Otherwise, it so doesn’t do it for me.  I’m actually thinking of leaving it and going on to our third book Meg Wolitzer’s The Ten Year Nap (since I have to have all write-ups completed by the 18th).  Hopefully this one will grab me and I can have a little fun with it.

And of course, while in Borders today, I just had to poke around. They didn’t have the book I wanted on social networking (mail order only) and I needed at least a $5 purchase to cover my parking.  I decided to peruse the cookbook section and yes, I came home with yet another cookbook.  This time I picked up Everyday Food’s Great Food Fast.  I enjoyed the recipes in the magazine so I thought the book would be fun (I’m one of those weirdos that reads cookbooks more than I cook from cookbooks).  I love how it’s broken down by seasons and it tells  how how long it takes to make something.  Very helpful.  While I pretty much have all the time in the world to cook, the hubby doesn’t quite come home at a regularly scheduled time, so I tend to still shoot for easy and quick meals.  It could be a keeper – all hell, I know it’s a keeper, but it could actually be a cookbook that I cook from.

So tomorrow, believe it or not, I have the whole day to myself.  Well, almost to myself.  I do need to take the dog to the vet for his rabies shot.  But that’s it.  I’m thinking that I might run over to Kohls to see if I can find new bathroom floor mats or something fun.  Oh and I’d like to pick up a chalk line leveler thingie.  I’ve been meaning to hang some shelves in the bathroom for nearly a year now, but I’m the worst when it comes to using a level (even a laser one).  So I figure with a chalk line level, I can make little cross-sections so I know exactly where to drill the whole.   It sounds like a good idea.

Okay, enough rambling.  I’ve got a cookbook and two and a half books to be reading!

Getting to Know You…

…Getting to know all about you…

I’m considering myself tagged (‘cuz I wanted to play along).  I saw this over at Bella’s Beyond the Map and thought it would be fun to share some lists of fours.

Enjoy!

Four Favorite Movies:

  1. Valley Girl
  2. The Sweetest Thing
  3. The Sound of Music
  4. Somewhere in Time

Four Places I’ve Lived

  1. Albuquerque, NM: My first big move, completely on my own.  I was jobless, friendless and homeless.  It was scary, but still empowering and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about the move.
  2. Kennesaw, GA:  I actually enjoyed living here, though I hated the actual house (and didn’t so much enjoy living with my dad).  I lived so close to my work (various jobs) and school. Plus it really was close enough to Atlanta to be fun.
  3. Peachtree City, GA:  Moved here from Jersey and what a shock.  Talk about living in the boonies – yet probably just as close to Atlanta as Kennesaw was.  Scary money out there as well.  But hey, I got to drive a golf cart everywhere!!
  4. Bound Brook, NJ:  I have very few memories here as I only lived here briefly while my mom had custody of us.  For some odd reason, I went to Catholic school and my older brother went to the public school across the street.  Very odd.

Four Shows I Watch:

  1. Lost – yeah baby!  Need I say more?
  2. The Hills – what can I say, I’m a sucker for that LC and the Speidi insanity.
  3. Grey’s Anatomy – can’t decide if I love it more for the storylines, the music or the McHotness.
  4. Entourage – but we don’t have HBO, so we have to wait and watch on DVD *sigh*

Four People who Email Me:

  1. My best friend and former roomie, Julia
  2. The hubster
  3. Matt, my closest friend from high school
  4. Jen with Ladies Who Launch since she led our Incubator and still keeps in touch

Four Favorite Eats:

  1. Chocolate
  2. Pizza
  3. Salad
  4. Cheese

Four Places I’d Rather Be:

  1. Shopping with Julia
  2. Visiting Joanna in Spain
  3. Mendocino with the hubster
  4. Hanging out in a warm climate with plenty of water around

Four Things to Look Forward To:

  1. Jim & Cheryll’s visit later this month
  2. My Birth-a-Versary in early May
  3. Our first trip to Europe (this year dammit!)
  4. Matt’s wedding in early June

If you want to play along – come on, all the cool kids are doing it – considered yourself tagged.

Yes We Can!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjXyqcx-mYY&rel=1]

We knew about this while it was still in the works (notice Herbie at the end), but I see that it’s just now starting to make the blog rounds. I’m not the most politically active gal on the block, but I do pretty much keep up on things. Seeing this video for the first time the other night, I have to say, I think it’s mighty powerful.

And yet again, Will.I.Am has done an amazing job in organizing the entertainment industry together for a cause. He’s a cool ass guy and knows how to get folks involved!

Who Doesn’t Deserve a Cupcake!

Okay, well I’m sure I can think of a few people that might not deserve a cupcake.  But dammit, I just completed one awesome interview with Liza Palmer (http://lizapalmer.com  – my links are working with me today) and lo’ and behold, there was a cupcake shop right next door.  And really, who doesn’t deserve a cupcake, right?  So mocha it was – and I washed it down with a sugar-free, non-fat caramel macchiato…yum!  What a great day so far!

Some other cool things…1) author extraordinaire, Liza gave me tons of info for reaching out to publicists.  Hopefully I can get some other author interviews lined up.  Mind you, they won’t exactly have the ease of in person, so I’ll surely have to get much better at my interviewing skills.  But I’m up for it!  So we’ll be adding that to my list of things to do this week. And 2) I’m getting some responses to my request for bloggers and experts for my site’s blog.  I just love when the universe works it’s magic!

What I learned today…

1) I’m apparently a lousy excuse for a California gal – let’s keep in mind that I’m far from being a native!

2) Not a fan of the artichoke – even when I’m promised by the waitress that theirs is the absolute best and will spoil me for all others.

3) The oh.my.god that is Sees chocolates is kind of lost on me.  I just thought it was just your basic chocolate.  But apparently, it has some sort of cult following and both Liza and our adorable waitress thought I was nuts for not knowing of it’s other worldliness.  Maybe I’ll look into that.

4) I guess I also fail in the key lime department.  I guess it causes shock waves in the atmosphere to not want key lime pie.  Who knew?  I was fine with the brownie thing though (and then of course on top of that, the mocha cupcake).

So now I need to edit the interview.  And of course, then have the hubby re-edit the interview.  I hope to have it up some time next week.  Can’t wait!

And did I mention that I have three books to read in two weeks and turn in some sort of review!!  Nothing like having a little deadline. Well, I did say that I wanted something to do during the day.  Thank you Universe!  And now, I’m off to respond to blogging requests and get started on at least one of those books.

Seven-Word Wisdom

I was reading about this seven-word wisdom over at the NYT.  Lest you think I actually read the NYT, I followed a biz blog link to the article – trust me, I’m not that wordly. But this blog thing, that’s an entirely different story.

I think it’s a great concept.  Basically, you create 2-3-2 word sequences sharing advice.  What fun, right?  Considering I have to create descriptions for my fellow launchers, I thought this might put me in the right creative frame of mind.

Here are a couple of mine.  Mind you, this kind of speaks to where my head is at (sorta)…

Don’t procrastinate.  Get things done. Much easier.

Think positive. Good things come.  Let go.

Avoid negativity.  Not your shit.  Their perceptions.

Here are a couple that resonated with me…

Stand up. When you fall. Stand up again.

Be present. Embrace goodness. Celebrate life.

Share freely. Don’t expect reciprocation. Be surprised.

What seven-word wisdom do you have to share?

Comments Schmomments

I always meant to ask this question, you know, back when I had a real blog with real subscriptions and real readers and real comments (it seems so far away now), but I figure I’ll just say fuck it and ask it now because dammit, I just want to know already.  So I ask you, when people leave comments on your blog how do you respond?

First and foremost, I’m pretty bad at responding period.  I eventually get around to it, but it’s usually a couple of days later – though I’m  working on being more timely.  But I wonder, since I never go back to see if anyone has responded to my comments, is responding in the comments directly the best plan?  I know that some folks tend to respond to comments via email.  I think this is kind of cool, but I’m just not sure it’s the best option for me since I tend to clean our my email folders pretty regularly (but I did do it that way when a whole batch of wonderful women commented on my consideration to Incubate with LWL).

Back when I had my (here it comes again) real blog, I used a plug-in so that people had the option to be alerted when comments were left after their comment.  This seemed to work for me as it was up to the reader/commenter to decide whether they wanted be part of a dialog or not so as long as I commented to their comments, I did my part.  Though to be honest, it didn’t seem to necessarily change the frequency of comments come to think of it.

So I ask you, o’few readers, how do you handle your comments and dialog?

Yikes, I’ve Been Tagged

I’ve been tagged by  sufergrrl over at The Ambien Chronicles to reveal a bit more about myself so here goes.  I don’t typically do these meme sorts of things myself, but well, since my blog is still a bit boring, I’ll see what we can come up with.  I won’t be tagging others since I don’t have that many readers (to say nothing of commenters) here yet, but feel free to play along if you’re so inclined.

The rules for this particular game:
-Link to the person who tagged you.
-Post the rules on your blog.
-Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
-Tag at least 3 people at the end of your post and link to their blogs.
-Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

  • I am a seemingly compulsive tweezer.  I can’t seem to walk into the bathroom without examining, tweezing or trimming my brows.  Letting my brows grow out between waxings always killed me (now I’m back to grooming on my own, no more waxing or that God awful threading for me thankyouverymuch).
  • I’m also crazy enough that I keep tweezers with me at all times and have been known to tweeze in dressing rooms (good light for that) or in my car (not while driving, silly).
  • The hubs and I have no plans for kids, but I’d really love to foster or adopt.
  • I have no problems washing or folding clothe, but I absolutely suck at putting the clean clothes away.  Instead, I stack and stack and just pull clothes directly from the stack (much to my husband’s dismay).
  • I enjoy cooking for others, but for some reason, cooking for just the two of us just doesn’t float my boat. Of course, it doesn’t help that the hubs rarely eats the leftovers.
  • I pretty much blog somewhere on a daily basis and have been doing so for the past five or so years now.  This blog is actually my 6th version of a blog – one went from free to hosted and then closed down for various reasons (#1 and #2); one was an LJ that I wrote in regularly but decided to close it down when I felt uncomfortable sharing things with my so-called friends (#3);  one is an LJ that I still use to keep in contact with my local friends (#4); another that I’m essentially editor of, but it’s not quite so fun as blogging just for the hell of it (#5); and lastly, this one (#6).  I miss my hosted blog most of all since I got to pretty it up and add plug-ins and whatnot.  But I figure since I just wanted somewhere, anywhere to blog again, that this would do and I can always just copy all of my posts back into my old hosted account (or something like that).
