By Lauren Luke’s Valentine’s Promotion: A Sony VAIO Giveaway

I’m not doing a giveaway here myself, but I just thought I’d share the info.  I mean who wouldn’t want a chance to win a free laptop, right?  And did I mention that it’s PINK??

During February Lauren Luke is partnering with Sony for a special giveaway. Valentine’s Day is all about making someone feel special, and that’s just what Lauren aims to do through her makeup line, video tutorials, and social media outreach. Coming right off the heels of her “Inspiration Nation Tour” and to celebrate Valentine’s Day, Lauren is giving away a pink Sony VAIO laptop through a contest on her website ByLaurenLuke.

Contest starts February 12th and ends February 28th.
The winner will be announced March 7th

Sometimes I Gal Just Needs a Little Pretty

This Friday, I was invited to the launch of a new hysterically funny and deliciously offensive mockumentary, Pretty: The Series.

After a little bit of a bumpy (but giggly) start with some AV mishaps, we were treated to the first three episodes and a blooper real of the series.  After having reviewed the first episode for my write-up, I was surprised to find out how much dialog I actually missed because we were all laughing so hard.

This funny and amusingly offensive mockumentary series centers around the world of children’s beauty pageants (the “Miss Stars Eyes Pageant” to be precise). The setup goes like this: Michael Champagne (Sam Pancake) is the very proud, if not a little “swishy” father to Annette (Stacy McQueen), our little pageant princess (who happens to be played by an adult). Michale is married to Ribina (Dee Freeman), the professional smoker that supports the family, who is fooling around every chance she gets with Michael’s brother, Ethan (Troy Conrad). Whew.

It’s written and directed by Steve Silverman, who says, “It’s ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ meets ‘Reno 911’ meets everything that’s politically incorrect, but just a whole heck of a lot of fun to say out loud in the world today.”

The laughs (and the series) officially launches today, February 1st. But episodes can be pulled up online all day everyday at their website,

Here’s the official trailer to tease you a little…then head on over to check out the first episode and be prepared to chuckle your way through the four minute clip.

The Real Housewives…

It’s no secret that I love me some Real Housewives of Orange County and New York drama.  I think those shows are juicy as juicy can be.  Well today I was poking around my Facebook feed and saw mention of the Real Housewives of Late Night.

Oh my God!  It’s awesome.

I’m not sure how all this NBC late night rescheduling is going to play out, but I need more of these Housewives.

Jimmy Fallon’s wife Denise introduces us to the brassy ladies of Late Night.

There are seven in the series so far. Be sure to check them all out. Funny, funny stuff.

This Girl’s a Geek

I’ll admit it, I’m a geek. I’m not a total geek mind you (I’m totally not a fan of gaming), but I do have many geeky loves.  One of my geeky loves (aside from all things social media related)…Dr Horrible’s Singalong Blog.

Check out this AmberMac interview with Felicia Day from the Guild (talk about awesome geekiness) for a little geeky fun.

No More Talking, Let’s Dance: The Only Reason I Watch Vampire Diaries

You’re like totally cool and so hot.

Oh yeah he is.  And if it wasn’t for Mr. Ian Somerhalder I wouldn’t even be watching this show.  He’s so much hotter than when he was wimpy ol’ Boone on Lost. Ooh, but rumor has it, he’ll be back for this final season on Lost. Woohoo!

Thank God for Turkish video sites…otherwise I wouldn’t be able to embed this hotness (my fave part about a minute in).

Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

If you need a better quality video, you know, to appreciate the fine cinematography and whatnot, try this YouTube clip (I have a feeling CW was blocking all embedding ability which was why I was left to find a Turkish, embeddable clip).

The Original Real Housewives

The Bitches are Back!!

Is anyone else as excited as I am to be watching those Orange County gals live their happy little, gated-community lives?  Better yet, is anyone else thrilled (okay, that might be a bit harsh) that Tamara’s marriage doesn’t seem to be going too well?

Let the drama begin!!

NaBloPoMo: What Was I Thinking???

I’ll admit it, I’m not thinking clearly.

Once again I’ve decided to participate in NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month).  Basically, I commit to blog daily for the full month.  This should be interesting since I’ve noticed that when I’m teaching, I can’t seem to find the time to post.  So this year, more than with any of my past NaBloPoMo times, this should be a challenge.

I didn’t do it last year because we were in Ireland. I seems I even did it last year while we were in Ireland.  Looking over everything, it looks like I skipped a couple days at the end of the month*.  Then again, I had multiple days where I posted more than once.  And of course, things got totally wonky in Ireland since we were half a day apart from where I was posting in Ireland and when it said I was posting in LA.  Very wonky indeed.

I’m hoping I can do this.  I can’t say that there’s a helluva lot going on right now that’s not school related.  But we will have our mini-vacation soon.  Strangely enough, it seems we tend to do mini-vacations in November (looking over past NaBlPoMo posts).  Very strange indeed.

If you’d like to know a little more about me, feel free to hop on over to my About page.  Otherwise, welcome to this mess I call NaBloPoMo!!

Wish me luck!

PS: If you’re an LA local gal, be sure to sign up for your chance to win a spa treatment at Dermalogica in Santa Monica

*just looked closer, seems I threw in the towel with only 8 days to go.
