29 Days of Giving; Help a Gal Out

I already finished my first 29 days of giving and it was a great experience  – one I highly recommend.  Here’s the original post to fill you in on things.  Turns out I had my numbers wrong and Cami and her gang still need just over 300 to meet their September goal.  I plan starting on my second 29 days of giving in October.

Why not give it a whirl yourself and see what changes for you?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

You’ve heard me mention (and link to) this a few times already.  Well, a while back (a little over a month ago now) I received a blog post submission from one of my fellow Ladies Who Launch, Cami Walker.  I wanted to share her story with you.

Cami recently started a worldwide giving movement called 29 Gifts. I was so inspired by her story, I decided I want to join her cause and help her create a revival of the giving spirit in the world.  Today is my 23rd day of giving.  I’ve not only enjoyed my giving, but I’ve also been lucky enough to receive some amazing gifts back (including some random checks, and the best one, 6th row, pit seats to a concert…for only $12 for the pair!!).  It really is something fun and creative that you can do that will also help to move you out of any sort of rut you might be in – be it financial, emotional, or personal.

Right now, Cami is in the process of writing a book about her experience with giving.  She made herself a promise that by then end of September she would meet her goal of 2,000 givers stepping up to the challenge.  She only needs a little over 300 more givers to commit to her 29-Day Giving Challenge. I want to help her get there.

Why don’t you join me and take Cami’s 29-Day Giving Challenge. It’s so simple. You sign up for the Challenge and commit to give away 29 gifts in 29 days. If you want to, you can share stories or art on the 29 Gifts community site about how it impacts your life to focus on giving (though I’ll admit it, I haven’t shared my stories anywhere and I’ve keep my blogging about it private – it just felt right).

The good news is that your 29 Gifts can be anything…money, food, old sweaters, smiles, your time, kind words or positive thoughts.  I’ve passed along information, books, and some product that I thought friends might appreciate.  I’ve also dropped off old magazines at the local hospital and donated clothes and food.  The opportunities are endless and coming up with creative ways to give is half the fun (when in doubt, or in a pinch, there’s always those click through donation sites and the simple act of prayer).

WHY SHOULD YOU DO THIS? To inspire more generosity on our planet. Because to see our world change, we have to do something to change our world. Plus, the best way to attract abundance into your own life is to be in a perpetual state of giving and gratitude.  You’ll really be surprised at the difference giving can make.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON! Forward this message to friends. Write about the 29-Day Giving Challenge on your website, blog or e-newsletter and help spread the word.

Visit www.29gifts.org today and sign up to start giving!

Pinkberry Event: Calling My LA Peeps*

Apparently, I know more people than I realized I knew.  Not only was I invited to all that MTV VMA stuff as a blogger, but my blogging also got me an interview (asking about my “freelancing”), and now, I’m invited to a special Pinkberry blogging event (thanks for the invite Tara!).

Man, blogging is good and offers some pretty cool rewards.  Maybe I should start doing some beauty and spa blogging 😉

Any local folks care to join me at this event?  Rumor has it they’ll not only will they have a DJ spinning and happy times mingling going on, but you’ll also get to taste the newest flavor.  Did I mention the goody bag? Sound pretty exciting if you ask me.

Care to come along?? It’s Tue. Sep. 9, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM

*did I seriously just say PEEPS???

One of My Favorite Things About the Fall…

Spa Week baby!  It’s the coolest thing, you can any treatment from botox to a massage to a facial or body scrub all for $50!!!  It’s a great way to check out a spa to decide if it’s one you might want to go back to later. There seems to be less spas participating this fall, compared to last spring, but there’s still a good amount in both LA and the OC.

If you’re in the LA area, I can’t recommend Skin Haven enough.  I had the herbology scrub there last Spa Week and it was divine!  Tell them I sent ya.

All I need now is a pumpkin spice latte and I’ll be a happy gal.  Well, that and maybe some cooler weather.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sommer Designs
And now, completely unrelated to the fall (kinda – “end of summer” means fall, right?)…a good friend and fellow LWLer, Sommer Designs is celebrating the end of summer by giving away this bee-you-tee-ful apron.  Just go here and leave her a comment letting her know just how talented she is (kidding, though she is talented).  Good luck!
Do You Use Affiliate Programs?
I use them for my business, but outside of some amazon action on my website, I can’t say I’ve used them much.  I was poking around the web asking my good friend, Google for some advice on how to create a landing page (I’m SO not a web designer!) and stumbled upon these guys…Storestacker.com.
I can’t tell for sure since their site is closed (only testimonials up right now) until the 28th, but it seems like it’s a way to set up your own superstore.  So instead of struggling with Amazon (and boy howdy do I seem to struggle with that site) or eBay, you can use them to set up your own storefront.  Could definitely be interesting, especially if you tend to promote some bigger ticketed items or run a niche community or blog.  I’m very interested to learn more once they relaunch on the 28th.
So I ask you, do you use any sort of affiliate program to make a little pocket change off of your blog or your business?
Everyone Wants a Golden Ticket, Right?
I’ve been hearing a lot about this upcoming event.  It’s right here in Long Beach too.  I’ve heard Brendon Burchard speak a month or so ago.  He’s really a fascinating guy with a fascinating story.  And of course who wouldn’t want to hear Marianne Williamson? I’ve read quite a few of her books.
Well if you’re in the area, feel free to check it out…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Have you ever had a dream so BIG that everyone thought you were nuts whenever you talked about it?

That’s what happened when my friend Brendon Burchard decided to bring his best-selling inspirational novel Life’s Golden Ticket to life as a seminar in a circus tent.

Well, now he’s actually pulled it off and he’s inviting you and 2,000 people to be part of the most unique transformational training event I’ve heard of in a long time.

Grab hold of Life’s Golden Ticket

Brendon is combining a success seminar with theater to create a magical and inspiring event that will help you become:

— More AWARE of your life’s story and awakened in the moment
— More ACCEPTING of who you really are
— More ACCOUNTABLE for the results you’re experiencing so you can change faster
— More ACTION-ORIENTED in creating the life of your dreams

Brendon has even invited his friends Dr. John Gray (Men Are From Mars Women Are From Venus) and Marianne Williamson (Oprah radio host and author of The Age of Miracles) to teach you their most profound insights gathered over decades as experts in relationships and spirituality.

A seminar in a circus tent?

Only Brendon could pull it off. And it’s a dream that you’ll be talking about for a long, long time after you attend.

Don’t miss this legendary event.

Don’t pass up your golden ticket.

Now take action and create the life you deserve.

Wishing you much magic in your life. Hope to see you there
